SWORN POLICE OFFICER
Minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 19
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver license
  • Associate’s degree
  • Required Certification from Police Standards and Training Council
  • No police record of criminal activities or involvement in any situations involving moral turpitude
  • Never have been dishonorably discharged from any branch of the United States Armed Forces
  • No tobacco usage in the last twelve months; and no tobacco use after being hired
  • Must live within 25 driving miles of the police station upon date of hire
  • Ability and demonstrated performance to work with and get along with fellow employees and the general public
  • Professional demeanor and conduct
  • Exhibit a high degree of loyalty and have a professional outlook on the task to which assigned


Agency Processing
If you meet the qualifications and are determined to be a viable candidate, you will be contacted by the Recruiting Division for testing. Testing includes:

  • Complete pre-screener (below)
  • Physical Abilities Test
  • Written Exam (POST)
  • Panel Interview
  • Polygraph exam
  • Psychological exam
  • Drug Test
  • Medical evaluation physical
  • Thorough background investigation


The entire testing and background investigation process can take up to 3-4 months.
