covid-19 business assistance
Winter Garden has a thriving business community comprised of mostly small to mid-sized businesses. Over 2,000 businesses call Winter Garden home with employment reaching over 25,000. During this difficult time, your City is here to support you. Remember to Stay Strong Winter Garden!
The City is offering the following programs during this time.
LOVE LOCAL CAMPAIGN
The City of Winter Garden has launched a Love Local campaign with activities and programs starting in September and continuing through December. Components include monthly sidewalk sales, a partnership with HOWND revenue-generation platform, the promotion of October as Outdoor Dining Month, the Harvest Sidewalk Sale and Stroll on October 24rd and 24th, Shop Small Business Saturday, on November 28th, Holiday Boutique Stroll on December10th and 'Tis the Season month-long seasonal activities in December.
Now more than ever, we need to support our local businesses. The intent of the Love Local campaign is to build awareness of the importance of shopping local and provide opportunities to support the business community.
Loving local bolsters the local economy since for every $100 spent at locally owned businesses, $68 will stay in the community, whereas, only $43 remains in the community when shopping at a national chain, according to the Independent We Stand organization.
The City of Winter Garden is partnering with community organizations such as the Orange Observer Group, the West Orange Chamber of Commerce and the Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves to assist the local business community.
LOVE LOCAL BUSINESS PROMOTION PARTNERSHIP WITH HOWND
The City is teaming up with Hownd®, a customer foot traffic and revenue-generation platform for local brick and mortar businesses that has generated over $3 million in immediate revenue for merchants throughout the country during the pandemic. The collaboration includes the support of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce, Orange Observer Group, and Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves.
The Hownd partnership is part of the city’s “Love Local” program designed to support its businesses during the pandemic by stimulating awareness and increasing customer foot traffic.
Residents can “Love Local” and support Winter Garden-based brick & mortar businesses by downloading the free MyHownd® consumer mobile app from their favorite app store here. With the app, residents and other nearby consumers can easily discover, claim and redeem valuable promotional offers from participating Winter Garden businesses. It’s that easy!
Our local businesses can easily and quickly sign-up for Hownd to make their promotional offers available to nearby consumers. Offers can include gift cards, buy now’s, value-add packages, and coupons. This is a zero-risk opportunity for participating Winter Garden businesses because for a limited time the city is covering 100% of Hownd’s fee that businesses would otherwise pay whenever Hownd brings them paying customers. Hownd doesn’t charge a set-up fee nor do they require a monthly subscription fee. And it’s effortless because Hownd does all the work for participating merchants.
